Army Men learn to Love again

After a year of absence, Brazilian striker Vagner Love is making a comeback to Russian Premier League leaders CSKA Moscow.

Vagner has already bid farewell to his partners at Flamengo and began packing for Russia.

The decision on the move was made after the 28-year-old striker met up with the Rio de Janeiro club’s new president, Eduardo Bandeira de Mello, who found CSKA’s offer beneficial.

According to the local media, the Muscovites offered to write off Flamengo’s 6-million-euro debt for Vagner’s transfer, with the play getting a rich personal contract as well.

Love has scored 15 goals in his 41 games for Flamengo this season.

Vagner is the most successful foreigner in Russian football history.

During his stay with CSKA in 2004–2012, he netted 117 goals, winning two domestic championships and the UEFA Cup.

But he always felt homesick and the Moscow club had to lend him to Brazilian sides Palmeiras and Flamengo on two occasions.

Love’s arrival will be a huge boost for CSKA in the title race as two of their first-choice strikers Seydou Doumbia and Tomas Necid out of action after serious injuries.
