The remains of a Roman theater dating back 2,000 years have been unearthed in the back garden of an archeological school in the UK.

The historical theater was reportedly found at the site where the Kent Archaeological Field School is based.

“It really is an amazing find, the first one in Britain, and it is just beyond my garden. This is a unique and wonderful discovery, not only for Faversham but for all of Britain,” the founder of the Kent Archaeological Field School, Dr Paul Wilkinson, told the Daily Mail.

The archaeologist told the newspaper that the so called “cockpit theater” could have held up to 12,000 people. According to Dr Wilkinson 150 theaters are known to exist in northern Europe, “but none in Britain until now. We were not expecting it.”

He said the archaeologists are going to request for the Roman theater become an ancient monument to preserve it for future generations.
