An explosion hit Serbia’s military factory “Sloboda” in the central city of Cacak on Monday afternoon, but nobody was injured, according to a report by Serbian news agency Tanjug.

All workers were evacuated as soon as smoke was seen pouring out of the storage room, said the report. Heavy black smoke and flames were seen at the site.

The explosion in the factory, which manufactures artillery ammunition, probably occurred in the storage room, the Defense Ministry said.

An earlier explosion in the factory, which happened on January 22, 2003, left three employees wounded.

The “Sloboda” factory, founded in 1948, once sustained serious damage from the NATO bombing in 1999. It is one of the largest factories of Serbia’s military industry.
