Hungary supports Serbia’s bid to join the European Union and is ready to assist its Balkan neighbor’s integration into the bloc, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said during a visit Friday.
Orban held meetings with Serbian counterpart Mirko Cvetkovic and President Boris Tadic during a one-day visit held before Hungary takes over the EU’s rotating presidency on Jan. 1.
Orban told reporters that the two countries shared a common future, regardless of whether Serbia was an EU member.
Cvetkovic said Hungary “offered any help in activities Serbia would have to take along the European path”.
“We talked about creating a direct line between the two government that would provide answers to certain questions related to European integration,” he said.
