Vulin prevented from visiting Kosovska Mitrovica

Somewhat after 1 p.m., Vulin was halted in the southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica, from where his car was accompanied by two police vehicles to the Merdare administrative crossing.

As the reason for this move, the police stated that Vulin's visit to the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica had not been previously announced.

Earlier on Friday, Vulin stopped his visit to the south of Kosovo, following the incident in the territory of the municipality of Zubin Potok, where unidentified perpetrators shot at vehicles belonging to EULEX and the Kosovo police.

From Prizren, Vulin, instead of going to the municipality of Gora, headed for the north of Kosovo, where he should have met with representatives of local Serbs in Kosovska Mitrovica.

On behalf of the Serbian government, Vulin strongly condemned the incident in the north of Kosovo, and called on the international community to take all measures to bring perpetrators to justice.

Vulin: Milica from Prizren symbol of Serbs

PRIZREN – Director of the Serbian government Office for Kosovo-Metohija Aleksandar Vulin stated in Prizren on Friday that the six-year-old Milica Djordjevic as the only Serb child in the town represents a symbol of all Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija

Milica is a symbol of the nation and the nation's decision not to leave orchange, drop in number or be wiped out, Vulin told reporters after visiting Milica in her school.

Director of the government office visited Milica Djordjevic in her school in Saint George's Cathedral in Prizren.

On this occasion, Vulin said that Milica will not be alone for as long as Serbia exists, and delivered to her the school necessities and textbooks.
Before the international community decides to end the supervised independence and reduce its troops in Kosovo, they should look into the eyes of this girl and explain why she is the only Serb child in Prizren, Vulin said.

They should explain why she is sitting alone in the classroom, Vulin said and added that the international community should explain why her childhood should be deprived of friends and peers who speak her language.

The six-year-old Milica is the only Serb child in Prizren and she enrolled in the primary school this year. There are no other students in her classroom and her only company at school is her teacher Vuk Davidovic.

During his stay in Prizren, Vulin also visited the Theological Seminary where he met with Bishop of Raska and Prizren Teodosije with 24 students of the Seminary.

Nedeljkovic, Ristic condemn incident in Varaga
KOSOVSKA MITROVICA – Head of the Kosovska Mitrovica district Radenko Nedeljkovic and Zubin Potok municipal president Slavisa Ristic condemned the incident in the village of Varage as an act of vandalism and cowardice which aims to jeopardise the survival of Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija.

They agreed that the attack on the vehicles of the Kosovo police and EULEX is a clear confirmation that the actions are coordinated so as to cause destabilisation in the northern part of the province (where the Serbian majority does not accept the unilaterally declared independence of ethnic Albanians) and thus make it easier to integrate the northern parts into the Kosovo system.

In a joint statement for Tanjug, Nedeljkovic and Ristic noted that they expect the security services to carry out a comprehensive investigation and bring offenders to justice.

They called on citizens not to fall for such provocations and instead to try and contribute to closing of the cases of grave crimes.

Regional spokesman of the Kosovo Police Service (KPS) Avni Zahiti told Tanjug that some time around 9 a.m. unidentified individuals fired at KPS and EULEX vehicles on the highway near the village of Donje Varage on the territory of the Zubin Potok municipality.

Nobody was injured in the shootout but a female Serb member of the KPS suffered injuries when a window of a car shattered due to the gunfire. Both vehicles suffered considerable damages.

EU, EULEX condemn shooting in north Kosovo
PRISTINA – EULEX Head of Mission Xavier de Marnhac and EU Special Representative in Kosovo Samuel Zbogar condemned Friday the shooting incident in north Kosovo.

One Kosovo police officer was slightly injured, and police and EULEX vehicles were damaged. A number of masked persons appeared on a road between Zupce and Zubin Potok this morning. They opened fire on the vehicles, a statement said.

A number of EULEX police officers were on their way to Zubin Potok to carry out regular duties at the local police station when the attack happened, the statement reads.

As EULEX reported, one Kosovo police officer sustained injuries.

The perpetrators must be brought to justice as soon as possible. I would appeal to all those who have any information relating to this incident to contact the police, said De Marnhac.
