Seven more teams have advanced to the Euroleague Top 16 including Russia’s Khimki and a pair that didn't even play.

The action started when BC Khimki Moscow Region thrashed Mapooro Cantu 77-53 in Group A. Zoran Planinic and Paul Davis each scored 14 points in the victory.

Several hours later Panathinaikos Athens downed Union Olimpija 80-72 and made sure Khimki qualified into the Top 16.

The Greens also progressed from Group A, as did Real Madrid, who play Fenerbahce Ulker on Friday and could deny the Turkish giants a qualification berth. Meanwhile the loss eliminated Olimpija.

In Group B, Dashaun Wood tallied 14 points and five assists as Alba Berlin edged Asseco Prokom Gdynia 67-64. That win sent Maccabi Electra into the Top 16, and the Israeli champions returned the favor when they beat Elan Chalon 78-73 and destined the Berlin side for the last 16 stage.

Montepaschi Siena face already-qualified Unicaja Malaga on Friday knowing that they will advance from Group B with a victory.

In Group C, Caja Laboral edged EA7 Emporio Armani Milan 64-62 to leave the Italians out.

Earlier Efes Pilsen beat Cedevita Zagreb 73-81 and secured a Top 16 berth, while defending champions Olympiacos are through as well. They travel to Lithuania on Friday to play Zalgirs Kaunas for first place in Group C.

The battle for the final spot that leads to the Top 16 continues in Group D as well.

Partizan Belgrade squeezed past Lietuvos Rytas 75-74 behind 14 points on the back of four-from-five three-point shooting from Davis Bertans.

The Serbian champions also got help from CSKA Moscow, who won in Bamberg, 89-97. Milos Teodsic inspired his partners on the night with 19 points and nine assists.

Partizan, Rytas and Bamberg all have a chance to grab the last remaining spot in the group.

Group leaders Barcelona will try to remain the lone unbeaten team in the Euroleague when they visit Besiktas JK Istanbul.
