A thrilling action awaits football fans on both sides of the Atlantic Wednesday as Team Russia and Team USA come head-to-head in a friendly with both sides’ coaches promising to cast new blood onto the field in Krasnodar.

Prior to the game Fabio Capello’s 26-man squad has lost four experienced players due to injuries, opening the door for the likes of Real Madrid's Denis Cheryshev and Anzhi striker Fyodor Smolov.

“Surely, you’ll see players who have played less or didn’t play at all for the national team,” the Italian said Tuesday.

“I’d like to watch some players who haven’t yet put on a national team jersey in the game, to check their value for the national team,”
he added, meaning the match may also see the debuts of FC Kuban’s keeper Aleksandr Belenov, Dynamo’s defender Vladimir Granat and Lokomotiv duo Magomed Ozdoev and Maksim Grigoriev.

Speaking about the choice of the southern city of Krasnodar as the venue for the friendly Capello pointed out two things.

“The local climate is much more favorable now than in Moscow or St. Petersburg,” the Italian said, adding: “This choice is also because there are two football clubs [Kuban and FC Krasnodar, both playing in the RPL] here and a lot of fans.”

A sell-out crowd is expected at the stadium with a capacity of around 32,000.

Meanwhile, US coach Jurgen Klinsmann said he wants to use a new generation of talented Americans as well.

The German is set to try out fringe players when his side take on Russia.

"One step at a time we are trying to play a more attacking, more technical game so that we hopefully in the future are able to play with the best teams in the world,"
 Klinsmann said.

"We have already made some steps forward,"
said former German international striker, pointing to recent 1-0 wins over Italy and Mexico.

"Little by little, we're trying to get to another level. … We discover talent all over the world with duel citizenship."

"It's a new picture that the U.S. is facing compared to 10 or 15 years ago, and that's very exciting for us,”
he stressed.

Capello's men sit ninth in the FIFA world rankings and are more than worthy opponents, according to the German.

"It's a fantastic opportunity to play against one of the top teams of the continent. We are really looking forward to it."

Klinsmann has left out experienced forwards Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey, but took Jozy Altidore, who could win his 52nd cap, and Nurnberg defender Timmy Chandler, who returns to the U.S. setup after a year out amid uncertainty over whether he will commit to the U.S. or to Germany, as he has a dual citizenship. Meanwhile, wingers Joshua Gatt and Joseph Gyau could be granted their first caps on Wednesday.
