Serbia, NATO relations good, Assembly

NATO Parliamentary Assembly officials said that they support Serbia’s European and Euro Atlantic integration and praised Serbia for its willingness to improve cooperation.

These comments are made in the Serbian Parliament statement issued after Serbia’s Parliament delegation in met NATO officials in Warsaw.

Serbian delegation met with NATO officials during the annual meeting of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, which is being held from Nov. 12 to 17 in Warsaw.

Serbian Parliament delegation held a separate meetings with the assembly’s president, Congressman John Tanner.

They also met with the chair of the Committee on the Civil Dimension of Security and former deputy president of the assembly, Congresswoman Jo Ann Emerson and the assembly’s secretary general, David Hobbs, reads the statement.

Serbian delegation says that NATO wants to improve the already good relations.

Tanner and Emerson said that the delegation’s visit to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly was “exceptionally useful and impressive,” says Serbia’s statement.

Chief of Serbia’s delegation, Vlajko Simic, said that the meetings show an “apparent” enhancement in relations with NATO. Simic said that he was happy with the outcome of the meeting.

The delegation took part in the preparation of a report titled “Western Balkans, 15 years since Dayton: Achievements and Prospects”.

For this report, Serbian delegation proposed 6 amendments of which 5 were accepted outright and the text was reformulated to include these amendments.
