The newly constituted parliament of the Bosnian Serb ministate has inaugurated Milorad Dodik as its new president.
Dodik was prime minister of the Serb ministate before being elected president in October.
Since the end of Bosnia’s 1992-95 war, the country has been ethnically divided into two ministates, each having its own parliament, government and president. They are linked by a separate, joint government.
Dodik is a strong supporter of the country’s ethnic division. He has repeatedly warned that he will organize a referendum to secede from Bosnia if anyone threatens the partition.
His inauguration was attended by Serbian President Boris Tadic.
