The Oscar-winning star of The Descendants George Clooney has surprised a German businessman by paying for his dinner at a fancy Berlin restaurant to ‘apologize’ for himself and a company of friends sitting at the next table.
When the businessman went to pay over €100 for his meal at the Grill Royal restaurant, he was informed that it had already been covered. The waiter explained that George Clooney had paid it, out of fear that he and his friends at the next table had disturbed the man by being too loud, The Local reported.
"That's not true at all. They had behaved in a very cultivated manner. I was stunned," the man told Bild newspaper.
When the businessman left his business card at Clooney's table to possibly return the favor one day, he didn’t even recognize the Hollywood star.
Only having left the restaurant, things finally became clear and the man suddenly realized who had bought him dinner.
The Hollywood heartthrob was in town preparing to shoot his new movie, The Monuments Men, with Cate Blanchet, Matt Damon and Bill Murray.
The film will be based on the historical non-fiction work “The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves, and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History” by Robert M. Edsel.
According to the Wrap, it tells the story of a hand-picked group of art experts chosen by the US government to retrieve artwork stolen by the Nazis.
