Officials say masked robbers armed with a bazooka and other weapons took over a bank vehicle and stole several million euros.
Police spokesman Damir Cutura said Wednesday that an unknown number of robber on Tuesday blocked a remote section of a road in southwest Bosnia with two vehicles and forced security people to hand over the money inside.
Officials say the money belonged to the UniCredit bank and was being driven to one of their vaults in Croatia. Bank official Anina Cvitanovic declined to say how much money was stolen but said the amount was fairly large.
Bosnian media reported the robbers took at least four million euros, which would make it the biggest robbery in the country’s history.
