The European Union is expected to lift borderless Schengen visa requirements for the citizens of Bosnia- Herzegovina and Albania at the next meeting of the EU interior ministers in October.
The Brussels-based weekly paper European Voice reported today that
European Commission last week sent to the EU member states and the European
Parliament its assessment that both the Balkan countries had met the last remaining conditions for lifting visa requirements.
The Schengen visa allows a traveller to visit 22 EU member states and also three non-EU states Iceland, Norway and Switzerland.
Last December the EU lifted visa requirements for three other Balkan countries, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.
