Drag Gramps: Elderly Chinese man models teen girls' fashion, goes viral

Chinese pensioner, 72 year-old Liu Xianping has become the latest online craze after he jokingly posed in women’s clothes in a photo shoot that has gone viral overnight.

Liu Xianping was asked to model for his granddaughter Lv Ting’s photo shoot to help her with her store promotion. But he certainly did not expect a burst of fame the very next day.

Lv Ting said the idea was all her grandfather’s. “He picked up one piece and tried to give some advice on how to mix and match,” she is quoted by China Newsweek. “We thought it was fun so we started shooting.”

Liu Xianping who weights only 50 kilos and has a very slim figure, wore women’s clothes and according to the photographs felt quite comfortable as a model. His poses and gestures look far more natural and relaxed than many of the professional models.

The campaign starring Liu Xianping has already proved effective. There has been a fivefold increase in sales of her Yuekou label since the pictures went online.

The photos with the 72-year-old male model wearing mini-skirts and lace met both admiration and criticism.

“Why is it unacceptable for someone like me to wear women’s clothes?”
Liu Xianping questioned. “Modelling for the store is helping my granddaughter and I have nothing to lose. We were very happy on the day of the shooting. I’m very old and all that I care about is to be happy,” he explained.
