Come as you are: Kurt Cobain doco to be created

A new documentary on the creator of “Lithium”, Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, who killed himself in 1994 aged 27, is in the pipeline, expected to be released in 2014.

It's the brainchild of the creator of HBO documentary on the Rolling Stones, “Crossfire Hurricane”, Brett Morgan whose new project has been reportedly supported by Cobain’s widow Courtney Love.

“Courtney is the one that brought me into this,” Morgan told the New York Post, adding that he and Love started discussing the project in 2007.

“We’ve been trying to find the right time to put this film together and the time is now…Kurt was not only an amazing songwriter and musician, he was an incredible artist and filmmaker. So we are going to do the movie sort of like a third-person autobiography — [as] if Kurt was around and making a film about his life.”

The founder of Hole, Love, meanwhile, has recently ruled out rumors of a Nirvana musical.

Nirvana's most successful record was their second, 1991-album “Nevermind” featuring such hits as “Come as You Are” and “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. The album earned Cobain the title of "the spokesman of a generation" while Nirvana was labeled "the flagship band" of Generation X. During the last years of his life, Cobain struggled with heroin addiction and depression. His death has been an issue of controversy since his body was found at his home in Seattle.
