Officials say Serbia’s President Boris Tadic has undergone an operation of the Achilles’ tendon.

Finnish orthopedic surgeon Sakari Orava, who had also performed a successful surgery on David Beckham’s torn Achilles’ tendon, led the team of doctors who operated on Tadic.

The president’s office says in a statement Tadic is feeling well after Thursday’s surgery.

Tadic, 52, tore his Achilles’ tendon while playing basketball earlier this month. He had been walking on crouches since.

Orava, who has operated on several international sports stars, including runners Frank Fredericks, Merlene Ottey and Haile Gebreselassie, performed the operation on former England captain Beckham in Finland last March.
