Bulgaria and Serbia agreed Tuesday to train their troops together in the Novo Selo Training Range, a military base in central Bulgaria used by NATO nations.

The agreement was announced during a joint press conference with Bulgarian Defense Minister Anyu Angelov and his Serbian counterpart Dragan Sutanovac after the two concluded talks concerning military issues.

Angelov said he has invited the Serbian Army to train with Bulgarian troops at the Novo Selo base in 2011. He pointed out that forces from the two neighboring countries conducted joint live firings for the first time several months ago.

Sutanovac said the Serbian Army was interested in training at Bulgaria’s two facilities, and has invited Bulgarian forces to train in Serbia as well.
